Context & Trivia

The 31 Minutos film is a cinematic adaptation of the popular Chilean puppet television show "31 Minutos," created by Álvaro Díaz and Pedro Peirano. Production for the movie began after the third season of the series. It premiered in Chile on March 27, 2008, becoming the most expensive Chilean film at the time, costing two and a half million dollars. Despite critical acclaim, the film did not recoup its production costs, leading to a temporary economic crisis for the production company Aplaplac. The screenplay was written by Álvaro Díaz, Pedro Peirano, Rodrigo Salinas, and Daniel Castro. The film focuses on an adventure outside the newsroom, highlighting the friendship between Juanín Juan Harry and Tulio Triviño. In 2007, a casting call was held to find the voices for the child versions of Tulio, Bodoque, and Juanín. The film was a co-production between Chile (Aplaplac), Brazil (Total Entertainment), and Spain (User T38 for special effects).
