Helpsters
Trailer
Synopsis
Cody runs a help shop with a team of monsters ready to tackle whatever walks through the door—party planning, mountain climbing, magic tricks. Every problem gets broken down into steps, and every step is worked out together. Built by Monkey Boys Productions and Puppet Heap, the ensemble puppet cast turns pre-coding logic and problem-solving into the most ordinary thing in the world for preschoolers.
Context & Trivia
«Helpsters» is an educational series from Sesame Workshop for Apple TV+ that premiered on November 1, 2019. The puppet characters were designed and built by Monkey Boys Productions and Puppet Heap. The series features Cody, the enthusiastic leader of the Helpsters, Mr. Primm, the most sophisticated member, Scatter, the youngest and most scatterbrained, and Heart, who takes instructions very literally. Jennifer Barnhart, in addition to performing Jackie, also serves as assistant puppet captain and a director on the series. Ingrid Hansen, who performs Heart, has discussed in interviews her experience as the sole Canadian puppeteer among a team largely composed of veteran US puppet industry performers. Martin P. Robinson, known for his work on Sesame Street, performs Mr. Primm. The series was announced on March 25, 2019, at Apple's "It's Showtime" presentation, where Sesame Street's Big Bird and series protagonist Cody introduced the show, emphasizing how coding fosters collaboration and critical thinking skills in children.
