Liberty Biberty

Comedy

Synopsis

In this 30-second Liberty Mutual spot, Liberty Biberty — a round, fuzzy yellow mascot built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop and performed by puppeteer Grant Baciocco — encourages people to "tell everyone" that they got great coverage and savings on their car insurance with Liberty Mutual.

Context & Trivia

Liberty Biberty is Liberty Mutual's newest advertising mascot, developed by creative agency Bandits & Friends (David Suarez and Danny Gonzalez, the same team behind the LiMu Emu and Doug campaign at Goodby Silverstein & Partners) and physically built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The name comes from a real flub by actor Tanner Novlan, who mispronounced "Liberty Mutual" as "Liberty Biberty" in an earlier Liberty Mutual campaign — the brand decided to turn that viral slip into a character of its own. Puppeteer Grant Baciocco provides the character's voice and movement. Liberty Mutual stated that 40 to 50 percent of its marketing budget would go toward promoting ads featuring the new mascot.
