Synopsis

A musical ningyō-geki about the 15-year-old princess Purin Purin, who travels with her companions in search of her lost homeland, pursued by the arms dealer Ranker. A grand adventure romance with nods to the Indian Ramayana, blending songs, humor, and social commentary.

Context & Trivia

Master puppeteer Akimi Tomonaga, responsible for building the puppets, traveled to India on a location-scouting trip because the story loosely drew on the Ramayana; he adapted each puppet's size and materials to its character and scene. The protagonist's singing voice was performed by singer and idol Hitomi Ishikawa.
