Synopsis
Among the Aurones, gold is simply what farming tools are made of — not currency, not status. That pragmatic philosophy makes them a constant target for King Grog, who needs the metal to bankroll his campaigns. Young Tejo and Yuca, with the dragon Poti-Poti alongside them, disrupt his plans repeatedly; Tejo can also turn enemies into vegetables, which helps. The series carries its adventure and humour through puppets, and threads through it a quietly unorthodox argument about labour and greed.

Produced between 1984 and 1986 and broadcast on TVE from 14 November 1987 to 7 May 1988, the 27-episode series was driven by Josep Viciana and Antoni D'Ocon. What stands out on the craft side is the division of labour within the puppets themselves: Josep Hernández handled the visual design of the characters, while Miguel Ortiz was responsible specifically for their internal mechanisms. That separation between surface and working parts reflects a degree of specialisation uncommon in television puppet production of the period. Achieving convincing lip-sync for the puppets on screen was one of the team's central technical challenges throughout the shoot.
The series belongs to a recognisable tradition of Spanish children's television built around puppetry — a format that had already proven its reach with programmes such as 'Barrio Sésamo' and 'El libro gordo de Petete'. Its continued circulation through regional and local Spanish broadcasters, and into other countries, points to puppet designs that were built from the outset to last.
