Thunderbolt Fantasy: Bewitching Melody of the West

Synopsis

Làng Wū Yáo is a boy born with an extraordinary singing voice. Raised in isolation on a snowy mountain, he's put through merciless vocal training by his blind mother, who dreams of his talent one day reaching the imperial court. A training accident kills her, leaving Làng orphaned and adrift. His gift is then exploited by unscrupulous people who use him for their own gain, until his voice catches the ear of the princess of Xī Yōu, who elevates him to the very status his mother once envisioned. Life at court, however, proves to be its own kind of cruelty: Làng is forced into life-or-death musical duels against rival musicians for the amusement of the nobility. Meanwhile, word spreads of Dàn Jiàn Tài Suì, a notorious criminal stealing magic swords across Xī Yōu, who has now set his sights on the sacred blade the emperor keeps hidden. The film serves as a prequel to Thunderbolt Fantasy season 2, telling the protagonist's backstory before he joins Shāng Bù Huàn and Mù Tiān Mìng.
