Synopsis

A puppeteer works the subway car by car, pulling out his marionettes whenever he finds an audience willing to look up from their commute. Between performances he rests and readies his figures before stepping back into the aisle to begin again. The spot frames that repeated cycle for what it is: work that demands preparation, stamina, and genuine commitment, show after show.

Context & Trivia

The spot aired in September 2017 as part of Universal Channel's on-air campaign '100% Personajes Únicos' —the network rebranded as Universal TV in October 2018— and ran on the pan-regional Latin American feed. Also catalogued under the title 'Marionetas metro', it uses traditional hand-held marionettes to depict the impromptu shows the puppeteer stages inside subway cars. Its archival value lies in the framing: the marionettes are not comic props but the centrepiece of an explicit argument for street puppetry as skilled, dedicated labour. The overarching campaign was directed by Dan Aldridge.
