Synopsis
Brian Henson welcomes Adam Savage backstage at Puppet Up! and introduces him to the technique of improvising with puppets for the camera. After watching the cast and practicing the fundamentals of eyeline, voice, and movement, Savage makes his first on-stage appearance as a puppet performer.
Context & Trivia
Puppet Up!, co-created by Brian Henson, displays two layers of puppetry at once: the puppeteers work in full view of the audience while the characters’ performance is framed on screens above the stage. This setup requires performers to maintain puppet eyeline, synchronize mouth and voice, and coordinate physically during unscripted improvisation.
