Synopsis

The comedy theater “Cabaret Toujour” by Maulwurf, Falkenhorst and Kalle couldn't be better. When Kalle, the star of the theater, begins his stage program, the audience knows no bounds. The polar bear also loves to celebrate himself backstage. Richy constantly has to deal with the crook Spec to get Kalle some stimulants. The “Theater der Freude” on the other side of town, on the other hand, is not doing well at all. The irredeemable ensemble of Kasper, Seppel, Gretel, Grandma, Svetlana and Bodo can no longer attract an audience. So Kasper devises a plan to kidnap Kalle and extort a ransom from Falkenhorst and Maulwurf to settle the outstanding bills.

Context & Trivia

Puppet Fiction belongs to a small genre of foul-mouthed puppet comedies in the vein of Meet the Feebles or Team America. It stages a rivalry between two hand-puppet troupes: the polished "Cabaret Toujour," led by star performer Kalle, and the struggling "Theater der Freude," built around traditional German Kasperletheater characters like Kasper, Seppel and Gretel reimagined with crude humor.
