Synopsis
In 1941 Berlin, puppeteer Andre Toulon performs an anti-Nazi satirical puppet show with his creations. When the Nazis discover his puppets are alive and seek his reanimation formula, they murder his wife. Toulon and his puppets, now joined by Leech Woman and Six-Shooter, seek revenge against those responsible.
Context & Trivia
This film is a prequel to the Puppet Master franchise, set in 1941 Berlin, despite the first film establishing Toulon's suicide in 1939. It introduces the puppets Six-Shooter and Leech Woman, the latter created by Toulon with the essence of his deceased wife Elsa. The creation of Blade is also shown, modeled after Major Kraus and infused with the soul of Dr. Hess. The main puppets, such as Pinhead, Tunneler, and Jester, already exist and are revealed to house the souls of people killed by the Nazis who possessed the will to live on. The film is notable for making the puppets heroic protagonists, a departure from their antagonistic roles in previous installments.
