Safer ≠ Safe | truth

AdvertisementEducational

Synopsis

A vaping puppet insists the habit is safer than smoking, only to be contradicted by fellow puppets citing hard numbers: one JUUL pod carries as much nicotine as 20 cigarettes, and vaping makes you four times more likely to start smoking. Across five spots, the puppets act out deliberately absurd scenarios—glitter vomit, pool burps—to reach young viewers and make the case that safer does not mean safe.

Context & Trivia

The puppets were designed, built, and performed by Viva La Puppet, a company specialising in puppet creation for advertising and media. The casting logic was straightforward: agency 72andSunny wanted a register that was weird and peculiar enough—glitter vomit, pool burps—that only puppets could pull it off without strain, letting hard nicotine facts land with a young audience conditioned to ignore standard public-health messaging. Griffin Burns voiced the lead puppet in '4X as Likely'; credits for the remaining four films—'Infinity', 'ASMR', 'Mind Blown', and 'Horn'—have not been officially confirmed. All five ads were removed from the original Truthorange YouTube channel, then rescued and re-uploaded by fans, giving them an afterlife as a frequently cited reference in puppet-in-advertising communities.
