Synopsis
On the highly advanced green planet Balda 7-3, robots called Schlupps perform all tasks. One Schlupp is deemed a defective product because it appears to have a soul and is accidentally sent to Earth instead of the garbage planet. Fabrication scholar Ritschwumm is dispatched to destroy Schlupp but finds himself conflicted as the robot befriends a boy named Beni and experiences life on Terra 1.

"Schlupp vom grünen Stern" is a 1986 marionette television adaptation by the German company Augsburger Puppenkiste, based on the 1974 children's book by Ellis Kaut. The series consists of four half-hour episodes that originally aired on Das Erste in 1986. The story proved so popular that a four-episode sequel, "Schlupp vom grünen Stern – Neue Abenteuer auf Terra," was produced in 1987. The series is considered one of the most beloved Augsburger Puppenkiste productions of the 1980s. The puppets for the series were built by Hannelore Marschall-Oehmichen, Christiana Seyfang, and Ursel Döllgast, with designs by Brian Bagnall. Brian Bagnall, Ellis Kaut's son-in-law, also illustrated the original Schlupp book and designed the end credits for the series. The Augsburger Puppenkiste is a German puppet theater founded in 1948, known for its television productions of children's stories. The name "Puppenkiste" (puppet box) refers to the type of portable stage they used, a box with a front panel that opened to the public.
