Synopsis
A pirate treasure map tucked inside an absurdly oversized Scooby Snack pizza sends the whole Mystery Inc. gang out of their treehouse and onto the trail of Gnarlybeard's lost booty — with several other hunters already in the race. The entire story unfolds through puppets, a deliberate break from the classic Hanna-Barbera animation style. Released direct-to-DVD, it was a pilot for a puppet series based on "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" that never made it to production.

This 2013 film is the first in the Scooby-Doo franchise to use puppets, drawing inspiration from the Muppets franchise and the character designs from the animated series "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo". It was intended as a pilot for a potential puppet TV series that ultimately was not picked up for production. The film had its world premiere screening at San Diego Comic-Con International on July 21, 2013, before its Walmart-exclusive DVD release on July 23, 2013, and a wider DVD release on February 14, 2014. Stephanie D'Abruzzo, a New York puppeteer, not only puppeteered Velma and Shirley but also voiced them, being the only one to retain her original voice work, as the rest of the main characters were overdubbed by their regular Los Angeles voice actors. The main puppet characters were performed by David Rudman (Scooby-Doo), Eric Jacobson (Shaggy Rogers), Matt Vogel (Fred Jones), Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Velma Dinkley, Shirley Stukowski), Alice Dinnean (Daphne Blake, Dr. Escobar), and Peter Linz (Ye Phantom Parrot, Gnarlybeard, Stu Stukowski, Lighthouse Lou).
