Synopsis

Due to a malfunction in their spaceship, the alien Yupi and his companion Astrako — travellers from the planet Tacatón — are forced to land near a small Spanish village. Adopted by the locals, they spend their time trying to repair the ship and find the fuel needed to get back home, while getting into all kinds of scrapes along the way.

Context & Trivia

Produced by Televisión Española, Los mundos de Yupi aired on TVE-1 from 18 April 1988 to 27 March 1991, replacing Barrio Sésamo (the Spanish edition of Sesame Street) with an identical educational format that mixes live action, sketch comedy, animation and puppetry. Yupi is a full-body puppet performed and voiced by Consuelo Molina, while his fellow alien Astrako is played by Alfonso Vallejo.
