Synopsis
A music video made for La Casa dels Xuklis in which a Xukli muppet sings an original song, accompanied by 2D animation that illustrates the story. The piece combines music, puppetry and animation with a double purpose: to encourage families arriving at the house for the first time to face the tough stage of cancer treatment with energy, and to help AFANOC (Associació de Familiars i Amics de Nens Oncològics de Catalunya) publicize its project and raise funds to sustain its services.
Contexte et anecdotes
The Xukli featured in the music video is a muppet — a hand-manipulated puppet with an articulated mouth — customized specially for this occasion by Sinilos, a Catalan puppet company specializing in this kind of production. It is the only physical puppet appearing in the video, and its singing performance is combined with 2D animation sequences that illustrate the story. The music video was produced by Western Productions, with a large audiovisual team (animation, editing, color and post-production) collaborating for free with AFANOC. The Xuklis also exist as full-body mascot costumes used by AFANOC at hospitals and charity events, though that version does not appear in this particular video.
