Los Lunnis
Original title: The Lunnis - The Series
Trailer
Synopsis
In the imaginary world of Luna Lunera, alien puppet characters share the screen with human presenters, tackling everyday adventures grounded in humour and values. The younger ones — Lupita, Lublú, Lucho and Lulila — stumble into mischief and scrapes, while elder figures like the Witch Lubina and Professor Lutecio keep them on course. Episode after episode, the pirate Lucanero schemes to steal Lubina's Great Magic Book. The series is aimed at early childhood audiences.
Context & Trivia
The Lunnis are built and performed using the Muppet technique: puppeteers operate them from below while standing, which allows seamless live interaction with human presenters on set without camera cuts. Characters were designed, puppeteers cast and trained by Muñecos Animados — formerly Érase Producciones — which also advised the set, props and costume departments. Manuel Román led manipulation direction during the first two months of production.
Among the voice performers, Rosa Pou and Dolça Cos share the role of Lupita, while Joan Carles Bentallé voices the Witch Lubina. Vicent Ortolà occupies a distinctive position: he both voices and physically performs Lunicef, the puppet created in partnership with UNICEF to explain children's rights within the series.
In 2005, the puppet characters were officially named UNICEF Ambassadors — a rare instance of institutional recognition for puppet performers in Spanish television history. The series was conceived by TVE writers Carmina Roig and Daniel Cerdà.
