Synopsis

Lunalunera prepares for its motorcycle Grand Prix, where newcomer Lugepé hopes to prove that he is the fastest rider on the planet. He faces the cheating Lumaldi, swift Lucentella, powerful Lujevi, intergalactic racer Saturnina, and the mysterious Masked Rider. The familiar Lunnis take jobs around the circuit: Lutecio becomes Lugepé’s mechanic, Lucho and Lupita report on the competition, and Lubina runs a food stand. Races, songs, jokes, and rivalries turn the championship into a lesson in sportsmanship, cooperation, road safety, and respect for the rules.

Context & Trivia

Los Lunnis sobre ruedas began on TVE’s La 2 on 28 May 2007 as a microseries built around a virtual motorcycle circuit on Lunalunera. Contemporary listings describe 45 initial pieces of about two minutes each, using new characters, sets, songs, and appearances by Spanish motorcycle racers to combine entertainment with road-safety education. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment issued Los Lunnis sobre ruedas: La película on DVD later that year under EAN 8414533044356, arranging the race material as a long-form home-video programme. TVE continued the concept in April 2008 with twelve new seven-minute episodes, but those later instalments postdate this first DVD.

  • TVE revived the championship in April 2008 with twelve new seven-minute episodes, but that second season was produced after the 2007 DVD.
