Synopsis
Recently divorced comic book artist Edgar returns to his childhood home and discovers a mint condition Blade puppet that belonged to his deceased brother. He plans to sell it at a convention celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders. However, a strange force animates all the puppets at the convention, unleashing a bloody killing spree.
Context & Trivia
This film is a reboot of the "Puppet Master" franchise, presenting an alternate timeline where André Toulon, the puppet creator, is a former Nazi war criminal. The puppets, who in the original films fought against the Nazis, are themselves Nazis in this version and are motivated by a twisted ideology. Among the puppets featured are redesigned versions of classics like Blade, Pinhead, and Tunneler, along with new additions such as Kaiser (formerly Torch), Happy Amphibian, Junior Fuhrer, Money Lender, Mechaniker, and Grashüpfer. The puppet design was handled by Tate Steinsiek, who aimed to give them a more sinister and offensive appearance, reflecting their Nazi nature. Udo Kier portrays André Toulon, the puppet master, in this new incarnation of the character.
